Name: Giada Pamela De Laurentiis

Born: August 22, 1970 (Rome, Italy)

De Laurentiis, a self-proclaimed chocoholic, studied at Le Cordon Blue in Paris, France with aspirations of becoming a Pastry Chef. After returning to the United States, she became a professional chef working in several Los Angeles Restaurants, notably the Wolfgang Puck-owned Spago. She later worked as a food stylist and was contacted by the Food Network after styling a piece in Food & Wine Magazine in 2002

I love Giada de Laurentiis and her shows especially “Everyday Italian”… I’m not an expert in cooking but i think i could be a chef in my own right because of her easy-to-do Italian recipes and desserts. I adore her, & her shows are so informative and entertaining as well.

Born: February 2, 1948

Nationality: American

Wrote her first cookbook in 1999, simply called The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook, which was one of the best-selling cookbooks of that year

Her cooking and entertaining style is best described as elegant and earthy.

Before becoming a television host, chef and cookbook writer. Ina worked as a policy analyst at The White House.

Attended Syracuse University in New York, majoring in Economics.

Grew up in Stamford, Connecticut

In 1966 she studied fashion design at Syracuse University in New York.

Married Jeffrey Garten December 22, 1968 at her parents house in Stamford, Connecticut.

Her idea of relaxing food is roast chicken and vegetables.

The name of her specialty store and television program, Barefoot Contessa, is derived from a film staring Humphrey Bogart.

Learned cooking from Julia Child’s ‘The Art of French Cooking.
